Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you?
1 Corinthians 3:16
First Quarter Moon: ACTION, growth, energy boost, strength, determination, commitment. (Try: Journal on any anxieties or fears you have or obstacles you are facing relating to your intention. Think of an action plan to help yourself move past them and persevere towards manifesting your goals.)
Transit Taurus: EARTH, grounding, home, safety, security... stability and permanence satisfy a deep emotional need.
February 1, 2020. Helloooooo February! We're officially a month into 2020. I'm really big on using planners and I've tried almost all of the big planner brands out there... and my favorite for the past few years has been Passion Planner! (You can try them out by downloading their FREE printable PDFs here.) At the end of 2019, I created my passion road map. It's an incredible tool that they include in their planners to help you visualize your goals short, mid, and long-term goals. They break it down into 3 month, 1 year, 3 year, and lifetime goals. After completing my monthly reflection pages, I realized that I completed most of my 3 month goals and one of my 1 year goals within the FIRST MONTH of 2020. While I have put a lot of work and effort into reaching those goals this past month, there was also a huge element of surrender that really made it all happen. I learned to let go of my desire for perfection.
I don't know where I got the idea that I was a risk taker before, because I definitely wasn't. I was actually just a big dreamer, and a really hard worker, but being a risk taker would have implied that I would take action without knowing the outcome. That definitely never happened. I would always go for those big goals, but only after I was certain that I would achieve it. In January 2020, I broke free of that cycle and started taking action to reflect my intention for the year: SHOW YOURSELF. I gave myself the permission to show the messy, imperfect sides of myself that I was too self conscious to even admit were there before.
This shift in my approach to reaching my goals is what allowed me to achieve all of those three month goals and the one year goal all within January of 2020. What was the one year goal that I achieved, you ask? Check it out for yourself:
WE BOUGHT AN RV!
Our tiny home on wheels. For those of you who don't know, we've been dreaming about doing this for about a year and a half. We will still be working here in San Diego, so we will be parking it at campsites and RV parks/resorts for now. We would really love to buy our own land somewhere in or close to Poway, but the big dream is to be able to earn enough income remotely which would allow our family to adventure across the country with our RV.
I am writing this post in advance, so I'll have more photos and video to share soon. We are picking it up in the early afternoon today, February 1, 2020.
I wanted to share this, of course because I just couldn't contain my excitement any longer, but also because I think it actually ties into these first quarter moon in Taurus intentions.
Ground down to spring into action
I think our RV is a perfect representation of this first quarter moon in Taurus. As I mentioned at the top, the first quarter moon is all about action and growth and the transit sign in Taurus nudges our emotions to crave stability and permanence.
It's pretty fitting that our moon is passing through Taurus on the day that we will be picking up our HOME. Although there may seem nothing stable or permanent about RV living, this is actually an incredible way for our family to honor our roots. The very nature of RV living is that you are not rooted down to one place, you make a home wherever you go. My daughter, Ellie, represents over a dozen different nationalities thanks to her super-mutt daddy. According to 23andme, I've also got quite the mix in me as well. I lived in very international communities in Japan and Hawaii, so I'm quite used to experiencing and identifying with multiple cultures. I talked a little about this on my ABOUT page, but this used to be really confusing for me because I didn't know where to call 'home.' I couldn't pick one community where I fit in, and now I'm realizing that there's no need to fit in to one when you can create your own community. Hence, the creation of Mahealani and Back.
Why fit in when you were born to stand out?
Dr. Seuss
I also like how 1 Corinthians 3:16 ties into all of this, as it talks about how we are a temple for God's Spirit. If God, the creator of the universe, can look at us and decide that we can be a temple for His Spirit, I think I should be comfortable enough in my own skin to call it home. Anywhere I am able to connect to my breath, to close my eyes and be present with love is home.

I am so excited to see where this new adventure will take us. Even though we definitely did a ton of research, I still think this was a big risk for us to jump on. A good risk, but still a risk. There is so much that's still unknown but I can already see a few obstacles that lie ahead. However, I'm grateful that we didn't let them stop us from moving forward. Now we can learn from experience rather than just learning from the inspiring families and people on social media who are sharing their adventures.
Reflect on your own intentions that you set at the new moon. Have you faced any struggles or obstacles so far? Is your inner critic coming out now to bring up all of your insecurities and doubts? Take some time to journal about this and write out a plan of action for yourself to grow and move past that negative self-talk. Don't let it be a reason to back off and let go of your goals. Let it fuel your action plan for growth and perseverance.
Show Love
How can grounding down and springing into action help me to SHOW LOVE? Simple. Safety and security = confidence. The more confidence I have, the easier it is to act without fear. Fear of failure, heartbreak, loss, disappointment, etc. Actions speak louder than words--love in action is the most powerful form of love out there. I pray that this week we can all ground down in order to burst through any barriers that are holding us back from SHOWING LOVE. What is one thing that you struggle with that you'd like to break free of this week? Leave a comment below or join the conversation on social media!
Namaste,
Keila
